I was using an UpHere 120mm AIO CPU Cooler for around 2 years before my CPU temperatures started to become a concern. It appears something started to go wrong with the circulation of the cooling fluid, so it was time to get a replacement. Knowing that the stock air cooler is quite decent and I could revert back to that, I didn’t want to spend a lot, which is when I came across this Amazon-only Oversteel Zircon. It was £36, which seemed suspiciously inexpensive. It didn’t have any worryingly bad reviews so I went ahead and ordered it.
It’s extremely simple to install…despite this, I was a little confused by the AMD mounting kit, until I realized that I needed to refit the backing plate that came with the motherboard. I ordered one from Amazon which didn’t cost much, and installation was then a breeze.
The cooling performance is as good as it gets at this level – with an AMD Ryzen 2700x, I stress-tested with Prime95 (which will absolutely hammer all of the cores in your CPU, probably more than any game will do)…I couldn’t get it to exceed 65°. Given that Ryzen CPUs can run up to the 80°’s under heavy load, this is a great result and will extend the life of my CPU.
While gaming it will sit at 52° , sometimes a little lower, which is a very good temperature and shows how much headroom you will have if you wanted to overclock.
The manual comes as a QR code which you need to scan with a mobile phone; there is no paper manual included.
The tubes are wrapped in a flexible fabric, which is higher quality than I’ve had in the past, where the rubber/plastic would be exposed; a nice touch which gives it a premium feel despite the rock-bottom price. Packacing is nice, with a full-colour box – nothing about it feels ‘budget’ or ‘cheap’.
Sound levels are fantastic, as you’d expect with an AIO. When gaming, your GPU cooler will drown out the Zircon, which hardly makes any noise…it’s quieter than my PSU fan.
The RGB is a nice touch – probably the simplest part of the AIO kit, but given the price, the fact it even has RGB is a welcome touch.
If you need an AIO CPU Cooler, either to make a silent build, or to keep your CPU running at peak levels for gaming, this one comes highly recommended…
