If your monitor is supposed to be capable of high refresh rates, but it’s only showing the dreaded 60hz, one solution is to manually force is to ‘expose’ 100hz (or whatever refresh rate). I did this for a while, using a Display Port to HDMI cable. HOWEVER, the better solution was to change my cable!
By using a dedicated DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, Windows automatically set my display to 2560 by 1440 at a refresh rate of 144hz… if you have only played games on a 60hz display before, you’ll be stunned when you see 120hz/144hz! It makes a huge difference, contrary to some myths on the Internet that suggest our eyes cannot see the difference.
At the time of ordering (March 2023), the 2m DisplayPort cable from Amazon was only £4.99

The price is currently £5.99, but you can expect to see this price go up and down, as you can see below, it ranges from £12 all the way down to £4.99.

There is of course a full range of cables from Amazon, whether you need HDMI to DisplayPort, or MiniDisplayPort to USB C, click here to check Amazon’s lowest prices on graphics card to monitor cables 70hz to 144hz (and beyond).
