WoWThing is a website which parses everything about your account; whereas parsing logs gives you detailed information about encounters….this gives you detailed information about your account: characters, mounts, pets, quests, inventory and essentially everything else. It may appear daunting at first as there is a lot taking place on screen, but it’s very logical once you start following it from left to right, as shown below:
The above represents one example of a specific function: staying on top of your world boss grind. If we followed the game’s “built in” solution for this, we would have to login to every single character, and type “/raidinfo” … and then take note or memorize it!
If you want to collect every mount in the game, or every transmog set, or every [anything], WoWThing.org provides a quick at-a-glance view of everything you need to know. I haven’t found anything which can come close to this level of detail combined with this ease of use, and possibly most importantly, at this level of speed. Imagine logging in to every single character, opening your Currencies, to see how many Timewalking Badges you have, and then typing that information into a spreadsheet. It would take a fast person around 60-120 seconds per character…it could take more like 300 seconds per character if the computer is slower and/or has many many add-ons to load for each character you of in to. Sure, you could also use a currency tracking add-on and display your Timewarped Badges across your account. You will need to be somewhat confident and skilled with add-ons as this will involve using multiple add-ons, ‘talking to each other’, along with configuring your options (such as “Display Both Factions”)… it’s still significantly longer than using the WoWThing method.
