Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Welcome to Day 3 of Technique Week at my blog and YouTube Channel. I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s project, you can see it here. Today is a project focusing on how to use DSP as a focal point. This is an easy look to achieve with the Tranquil Textures DSP and a scrapbook page. The images are perfect for this technique! Oh and there is a bonus technique in the video tutorial for getting a nice ombre look with the Stamparatus. Let’s check it out…

DSP as a Focal Point

Often times I feel like I can not formulate a design in my mind for a scrapbook page. When this happens, I try to back away from the project, get a handle on how the colors can relate to a pack of DSP at hand and go from there. Such was the case in this layout.

The colors in the photo are all over the place, lol, so grounding the image with some earth tones was first in my mind for choosing colors in a DSP pack. I settled on Tranquil Textures DSP because of the patterns on the paper. There are large images that read as solid, as well as some nice detailed sheets like the one I used with tiny bubbles. The bubbles and the water playing in the photo got me into choosing which pieces to use from the pack. It’s at this time when I make a choice to use the DSP as a focal point instead of the photo. The colors are Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide and Granny Apple Green. Being as Granny Apple Green is not one of the colors in the DSP pack, it would be the one color to tie the photo into the other colors.

Please take a minute or two to check out the Video Tutorial I created for this project. Link is below.
