Metro Exodus will be released on Feb. 15

By December 14, 2018 No Comments

Metro Exodus, the conclusion to the ambitious series of subterranean first-person shooters, now has a release date. Previously delayed out of fall 2018, the game will arrive on Feb. 15, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. To celebrate, developer 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver have revealed the game’s opening cinematic.

The Metro series of video games, based off the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, began in 2010 with Metro: 2033. The game was praised for its portrayal of the desperate, post-apocalyptic struggle in the subway tunnels below the streets of Moscow. The second game in the series, Metro: Last Light, was released to critical acclaim. In our review, we praised its concise narrative and excellent action gameplay, which more than overshadowed its technical flaws.

In the years that passed since work on the series began, the Ukrainian development team has gone through a lot. That includes a revolution, illegal actions by Russia and Russian-backed separatists to annex part of their home country, and the formation of a new studio facility on the island nation of Malta. Throughout it all the team has remained resolute and focused on their goal.

When Exodus is released, fans will be treated to an open-world Metro experience for the first time. For more, check out our hands-on preview and interview from this year’s E3 in Los Angeles.
