The first updates planned after the launch of Kingdom Hearts III have been revealed and they include the game’s epilogue and another “secret” video.
Revealed by Kingdom Hearts Twitter, Update 1.01 will arrive when Kingdom Hearts III launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019, and will include “several data fixes” and the Memory Archive.
The Memory Archive will be added to the game’s title menu and will be a “digest of the #KingdomHearts story in the series up to this point.”
On Wednesday, January 30, the Epilogue will be added to KHIII and will be able to be viewed after players have completed the main story.
On Thursday, January 31, a “Secret” video will be released that will be able to be viewed following the completion of the story and after certain criteria have been met, which will vary depending on difficulty level.
These additional updates will, obviously, require an internet connection and are meant to “enhance player’s enjoyment of the world of #KingdomHearts.”
The main game, however, will allow players to view the story’s ending without the need to download anything extra.
This release schedule has been implemented in an effort to protect fans from spoilers.
Kingdom Hearts III’s director, Tetsuya Nomura, wrote a letter to those fans following alleged leaks of the title, saying “we want everyone to be able to equally experience the full game after its release, so we ask for you continued support on this matter.”
These updates will hopefully be just the beginning, as Nomura has also said that, in regards to DLC, he does “want to have something to add to your enjoyment of Kingdom Hearts 3,” although nothing has been confirmed.
Kingdom Hearts III will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019. To help in the wait, be sure to check out every world that has been confirmed so far for KHIII and take a detailed look at some of KHIII’s Keyblades.
