The dreaded warning about running low on storage space… I was tempted to buy more, but I decided to address the problem. First by identifying what was taking the space. To my surprise it was G-Mail; I expected Google Drive or Google Photos to be the culprit.
This means I’ve got many years worth of e-mail attachments – none of which I’ll need … so I need to delete them, but how?
Fortunately, it’s easy to batch-delete e-mail in GoogleMail – we just need to pick our criteria. For me, it was all e-mails over a year old with 1mb+ attachments.
Just enter “size: 1000000 older_than:1y” – this will show all messages older than 12 months with a size of 1mb or larger. Tick the box to select-all, and then click “select all conversations that match this search” so that it selects every single message in our account. Once you hit delete, it might take a while depending on how many messages you have – but it will still be around 914124 times faster than manually deleting those e-mails 😉
